Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: October 20, 2026
1. Who we are and how to contact us
Anglerfish (https://anglerfishjobs.com) is an independent, non-commercial personal project based in Georgia (the country) that helps people find and track job openings. In this policy, “Anglerfish”, “we” and “us” mean the person who runs that project.
Contact for privacy questions, deletion requests and removal requests: privacy@anglerfishjobs.com
2. Summary
- We keep the information needed to run your account, your job search profile and your shortlist.
- Job postings shown on Anglerfish come from public employer job boards. We do not receive applications, resumes or cover letters.
- Analytics are off unless you accept them, and you can change your choice at any time.
- When you click Apply, you leave Anglerfish and the employer’s own terms and privacy notice apply.
3. What we collect from you
Account data. Your email address and password when you create an account. The password is handled by our authentication provider; we do not see it in readable form. The provider also sends you account emails (confirmation, password reset).
Search profile and onboarding. Information you enter to get matches, such as roles, keywords, locations, work format, seniority, salary expectations, and any unfinished onboarding answers.
Activity in the app. Jobs you like, save, hide or mark as applied, the stage you give an application in the tracker, and companies you choose to watch. This is your own record inside Anglerfish; it is not sent to employers.
Matches. The list of jobs we compute as relevant to your profile.
Technical data. Our hosting provider processes your IP address, browser and device details and request data when you visit, in order to deliver the site and keep it secure.
Analytics and consent state (only if you accept). See section 7.
Telegram. The website does not currently offer Telegram notifications and does not collect your Telegram details. This policy will be updated before Telegram alerts launch.
4. What we show from public sources
Anglerfish displays job postings that employers have already published on their public job boards, currently through Greenhouse and Ashby. We show only postings that are public or listed. For each posting we show things such as the job title, company name, location, department, salary if the employer provides one, the description, how fresh the listing is, and a link to apply on the employer’s page. We keep a copy (a cache) of this public information so the site is fast and so we can tell when a posting is no longer listed.
This is information about jobs and companies, not about you. Postings can contain a recruiter’s or hiring manager’s name if the employer put it in the public text; we do not add personal information to postings. We show the content as the employer published it and do not rewrite it with AI. Anglerfish is not the employer, a recruiter or the applicant tracking system, and we do not publish jobs on an employer’s behalf.
5. What Anglerfish does not do
- We do not collect job applications for employers.
- We do not receive resumes, cover letters or other application materials through Anglerfish.
- We do not submit applications to employers or to applicant tracking systems for you.
- We do not sell your personal information.
6. When you apply: leaving Anglerfish
The Apply button takes you to the employer’s page or its applicant tracking system. From that moment you are on a third-party site. What you submit there is handled under the employer’s and the system provider’s terms and privacy notices, not this policy. Please read those before you share your information.
7. Cookies, local storage and analytics
Needed to run the app (no choice required). We store on your device: a login session, app state and preferences, a queue that retries your job actions if the connection drops, and the record of your analytics choice (a local storage entry). These are used to make the service work.
Analytics (only if you accept). If you press Accept on the analytics
banner, we load Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics and PostHog. They may set cookies or
local storage entries and collect information about how you use the app: pages and views,
actions such as searching or saving a job, error reports, and a pseudonymous identifier.
When you are signed in, that identifier is linked to your account id. Nothing from these
services is loaded before you accept. If you decline, they are not loaded, and we remove
analytics cookies and local storage entries we can reach (names starting with
_ga, _ga_, ph_). Advertising signals stay disabled in
our consent settings.
If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, we do not run analytics.
How to change your choice. Use the “Analytics preferences” link in the footer of the page, or the analytics panel in your Profile if you have an account. You can accept or decline there at any time. Before you have made a first choice, use the banner. Declining stops further analytics. It does not by itself delete data already collected; to ask for that, contact us (section 10).
8. Service providers
We use these providers to run Anglerfish. They process data on our behalf, and some use it under their own terms.
| Provider | What for | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in and account emails | Account, profile, preferences, activity, matches, your email address |
| Vercel | Hosting | Request data such as IP address and browser details |
| n8n | Automation that collects public job postings and prepares matches | Public job data; may read profile and preference data to compute matches |
| Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics | Usage analytics, only if you accept | Events, cookie identifiers, IP address at network level, account id if signed in |
| PostHog | Usage analytics, only if you accept | Events, identifiers, account id if signed in, error reports |
9. International transfers
These providers may store or process data outside the country where you live. PostHog may process analytics data in the United States. If you have questions about where your data is handled, contact us.
10. Your choices, deletion and removal requests
You can ask us to delete or correct your personal data, ask what we hold about you, or object to how we use it, by writing to privacy@anglerfishjobs.com.
Account and personal data. Write from the email address of your account and say that you want your data deleted (or corrected, or a copy of it), and the email you registered with. At the moment this is handled by email; there is no self-service delete button.
Companies or job postings. If you represent an employer or recruiter and want a posting or company removed from Anglerfish, write to the same address and include: the company name, the link to the job or company page on Anglerfish, the link to the original posting if you have it, your role at the company, and what you want removed. We may ask for a little more information to confirm that the request is genuine.
What happens next. We read each request, decide what type it is (personal data deletion, company or job removal, correction, or a complaint), check that we can identify the account or posting, remove or hide the relevant records, and tell you the outcome or why we could not act. Our target is to acknowledge your message within 7 days and to act or give you a decision within 30 days. These are targets for a personal project, not guarantees.
You can withdraw your analytics consent at any time (section 7). If you are in a place with data protection law that gives you additional rights, such as the right to complain to a data protection authority, those rights are not limited by this page.
We compute job matches automatically from the profile you give us, to rank jobs for you. We do not make decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effect.
11. How long we keep data
We keep account data while your account exists and delete it when you ask us to, subject to section 10. Analytics data held by Google and PostHog follows their own retention settings.
12. Children
Anglerfish is not intended for anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will deal with it under section 10.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
